E7 BBQ cancelled.

Dear friends,
Although there were some who wanted to attend, there was just too little people for a reunion party. So the BBQ is called off. Maybe end of this year, or maybe 6 years later, we could have another reunion. Honestly, i wasn't so optimistic about the BBQ because of all the things going on, but i've tried my best as an ex-vice-chairperson of E7. So we'll meet next time.

Okay!
So....i kept seeing ex-E7-ners for the past few days, and the word class BBQ comes up.
Weird leh, because i'm seeing them like every other day consecutively.
Anyway, what i really wanna ask those who read the E7 blog is that....

Let's have a class BBQ or a chalet in late february!

The reason being that we have not had a proper class gathering since our school term ended back in 2007, and well, we've not seen a lot of our friends since then too.
Currently, this is open to suggestions that can be made on the tag board.
However, we should have it on a weekend, like 20/21 feb or 27/28 feb so that those who're working won't be affected.

Thinking of maybe during the december holidays period...(where poly students and JC students... coincide) Maybe we could haf a class bbq to like bonding? Been a long time since we last met right? Afterall that period should be where most of u already finish 'A' lvls and for guys are waitin to go into NS... so maybe by that time... some of us can come together to discuss a bbq? If there is still frequent viewers coming from e7 maybe u all can come visit this blog later in the year. =D Hopefully this event can be a success? i dun really have much confidence in this so maybe more of us can organise this together =D

GUYS in JC MUST GET SILVER HORH.... if not later must go in 8 weeks earlier which MAY be december that period...

Anyway, TPJCians congratulations for surviving through your promos, bet you guys were cursing the school for making the exam come so early. Hope each and everyone of you did well and will be promoted to JC2.

For those in other JCs, all the best for your upcoming exams. Cram your brains with info and drain it all out on the exam paper but remember to take care of your health as well. So everyone, get your A's, get promoted and get out of JC.

Haha, check out the earlier posts, and i bet that you can remember many things that we've done throughout sec3 and sec4.
I seriously miss(yes, just like how joel puts it) the retarded times in out class,
how we used to laugh at timothy,
how zhang yun used to collect our class fund,
how we had a goldfish in class which died and rot.

Now that we've gone seperate paths, it's tough to keep in touch with our friends, so please keep this blog alive. (:

Besides going back for cher's day(yes, that's how we used to put it), i wanna have a class gathering on Dec, preferbly towards the start.
So....i guess we should discuss this on the tagboard.

I wish we all meet in Uni or something like that someday.

Hey Hunks and Babes of e7-almighty. It has been a month since we walk separately into our new paths of life. I hopefully our hearts are still unite as one though.

As most of you have seen the previous post, there is a class outing on this coming saturday. Here are the details

Day and Date: Saturday. 5th January 2008

Time and venue to meet: 1pm at Bedok MRT station

We will be going to East Coast Park to cycle. For those who are least interested in cycling, fret not. You are not left out. Well, you guys can bring some mats so that you can settle on when some people are cycling. Since some of us went to work, admitted JCs and travelled overseas this 1month++ I guess all of you are quite excited to share your experiences with the class! You can even bring some games such as twisters and chess to entertain. If possible, try to bring games that everyone can play so that everyone can get involve. Joel will be bringing a frisbee.

Pray hard that on that day, it doesnt rains because we have yet to come out with a back up plan. So people, give some suggestions. xD

Sadly to say, food is not provided. So I encourage all of you buy some snacks to last through this event because the food in ECP is quite expensive. I think. Remember to bring your own water. Just in case, you can just bring along your umbrella.

After this event, other programmes such as dinner is up to you all. Erm. We are not in charge for dinner programmes. But everybody is welcome to initiate and give suggestions though.

We sincerely hope all the e7'07 will try to squeeze out a time to participate this event. Your presence is signicant because WE are e7-almighty. Without you, we aren't a class. So, do come and have fun!

If you are going, do contact either Joel, Cedric, Dominic or vincent in advance. Try to avoid vague answers such as "probably can", "maybe can" or "see first" Also, please kindly don't add this phrase "who is going" or similar in your message because it can be quite troublesome to reply this type of sms/message. There's talks in the works with Mdm Mariam about the possibility of a Chalet-BBQ thing for the class, we'll see how it goes.

K reacts in cold water explosively give KOH + H2. Enough heat is produced to cause hydrogen to burn in a lilac flame.
Na reacts very violently in cold water to give NaOH + H2. Hydrogen gas liberated might catch fire.
Ca reacts readily in cold water to give CaOH+H2.
Mg reacts very slowly in cold water. It takes about a week to collect a test tube of hydrogen gas.
Fe, Zn, Ag, Cu do not react in cold water.

Hot Mg reacts very violently in steam to give you MgO and H2 and a bright white glow is produced during the reaction.
Hot Zn burns in steam to give you ZnO + H2. Hot = yellow, Cold = white.

The coke in the blast furnace, C reacts with O2 in the blast furnace to give you carbon dioxide.

A Citizen Armed Force

Yes, a citizen armed force. You got a problem with my armed force?My arm force big cannot? While Singapore has friends, it cannot totally depend on external help, it must have its own military forces to defend itself you know? After independence, Singapore had too small of a population to create a large professional force, moreover Singapore was poor and could not afford one! So Singapore decided to make a citizen armed force. YES. A bloody Citizen Armed Force. Could you believe it? Torturing its poor males for the sake of the whole. Actually, its a good idea, but can you believe it? Actually i can. But. Still?!!. Anyway, National Service was introduced and all 18-year old males had to take part in it. Through NS, Singapore has learnt how to defend its country and men who undergo NS saw their training as a good way to bond with one another. They also developed a sense of loyalty,patriotism and a shared destiny.Men who have completed NS still have to attend refresher training to maintain their competence in handling new weapons and equipment, and to learn new tactics of war. This ensures that they are always ready to defend Singapore at all times.Through NS, Singapore has been able to produce an effective SAF, RSAF,RSN.Later on, Total Defence also became part of the defence policy.

Total Defence

The readiness to defend its independence and survival is vital to any independent country.Through total defence, the whole population, not just the armed forces, has a part to play in ensuring Singapore's security. SG seeks to deter potential agressors by showing that all Singaporeans are prepared for defence in all areas. Any potential enemy who wants to take on Singapore would not only have to fight the SAF, but all Singaporeans. This would make enemies think twice before attacking Singapore as the fight would hopefully be a costful one.

Singapore's Defence Industry

In the early years of building its armed forces, Singapore faced a shortage of equipment and weapons. It also had to wait a long time before its weapons arrive. When the military equipments and weapons arrived , many were not suitable for Singapore's needs. There was a need to thus design its own weapons and military equipment for Singapore to fight efficiently and effectively. Therefore, Singapore had its own defence industry.Another reason is that sometimes, other countries do not want to share their defence technology as well.Get it?????!

Military co-operation

Singapore actively fosters friendly ties with other armed forces of other countries. The shortage of training grounds in Singapore has made it necessary to make training arrangements with friendly countries. Singapore also participates in many bilateral and multilateral defence exercises. Such exercises involve training and interacting with the armed forces of the participating countries and thus military co-operation is needed.

Bilateral Defence Exercises and Training

As said early, Singapore participates in bilateral exercises conducted with armed forces of some of the ASEAN countries like Australia. This exercises strengthens the ties and co-operation between these countries. For example, Australia has allowed the RSAF to use its training ground for 15 years as Singapore's has a shortage of training ground.

Multilateral Defence Excercises

Singapore also participates in many multilateral defence exercises.An example would be the Five Power Defence Arrangements (FPDA) exercises. The FPDA's aim is to perserve peace in the region. In the event of an external thread to Singapore or Malaysia, both countries would consult one another on the appropiate measures to be taken.

Bilateral Relations

When a country establishes diplomatic relations with another country, that is called bilateral relations. Both countries would send their diplomats to the other country. Sometimes treaties are signed by each country. These agreements for example, can cover trade.Disagreements are discussed and settled peacefully in bilateral relations. Relations can be also strengthened when leaders from both countries visit one another. Since independence, Singapore has established many bilateral relations. Singapore believes that its interests can be promoted through bilateral ties. Some benefits of bilateral relations are new job opportunities with China, transfer of technology and skills from Germany,exchanged of cultural ties with Malaysia.Singapore is also willing to help its friends in need. For example, Singapore has sent doctors, teachers and nurses to developing countries such as Vietnam and Nepal. Singapore's bilateral relations has allowed it to thus gain world recognition.

Regional Relations

Sometimes, countries in the same region get together to form associations.By combining the strengths of each member country, the association becomes stronger. Thus, the association is in a better position when it deals with other countries or assocation. An example would be ASEAN( association of southeast asian countries).ASEAN was formed by 5 southeast asian leaders. International Relations

International relations involves ties among countries and groupings in the world. The UN plays an important role in international relations as its it serves the need of all of the countries in the world. Its role is to preserve world peace and first started with 51 country members. Providing help to countries in need. The UN provides help to countries facing immediete problems such as an earthquake. It sends food and medical aid to the countries. Giving a voice to every member country. Member countries are given an opportunity to vote on any decision that may affect them. They are also given a chance to voice their grievances.Safeguarding peace and stability.The peacekeeping forces are made out of officers from member countries. Consent from the UN and the countries involved in the conflict must be given before peacekeeping forces can be sent to the area in trouble. The main task of a peacekeeping force is to ensure that parties involved in an armed conflict observe peace by keeping them apart, preventing them from fighting. Peacekeepers are also not allowed to side with anyone of them.The UN security council maintains peace and security among member countries. For example, when a war breaks out, the security council may issue a stern warning to the aggressor, or may take military action or organize a boycott. The ICJ of the UN also helps settle disputes between member countries.

hello dear 3e7-ners turning 4E7-NERS! :D

i did a revamp of the blog layout so that you guys wont get sick of looking at the same black and white thingy whenever you hop onto the class blog, and as well, to make the entries show up!! so how's it? i've chosen blue mainly because it fits the colour of our class photo, otherwise i would have just chosen green.. HAHA.

time flies, we all know that. 2006 had been an eventful year, with us doing our part to contribute whether in lessons or class projects. i never knew 2006 would just whiz past with 2007 smiling, awaiting us, and it simply means we have only 1 more year before we graduate. let's bond together as much as possible next year yeah? im sure 37 years down the road, we wanna smile, and still remember, the best class "e7-almighty" :D

RE to Class party

Here's my suggestion for the class party. Give any comments that you want. But make sure it's logical and not unreasonable.

I suggest we have a bbq at Pasir Ris park. Spent the money on better food and at the same time save some for next year to book a Chalet.

Other alternative is to hold the bbq using someone's Condominium facilities. The cons of doing this is that we are not allowed to make a lot of noise after 10pm and we must ensure that by the end of the bbq, everything is cleaned up.

Worse off, we can always have Pot Luck on the last day of school. Everyone is guranteed to be in attend and it's really cheap.

Note: Pot luck means bringing COOKED food. Eg Fried Rice Not BUYING potato chips or light snack.

The Fasting Month

Hey friends, what's up?? As you know, the fasting month has started and you can see that your muslim friends are fasting. In the Holy Qur'an it states;

O ye who believe! Fasting is prescribed to you as it was prescribed to those before you, that ye may (learn) self-restraint. (Yusuf Ali, 2:183) (Fasting) for a fixed number of days; but if any of you is ill, or on a journey, the prescribed number (Should be made up) from days later. For those who can do it (With hardship), is a ransom, the feeding of one that is indigent. But he that will give more, of his own free will,- it is better for him. And it is better for you that ye fast, if ye only knew. (Yusuf Ali, 2:184) Ramadhan is the (month) in which was sent down the Qur'an, as a guide to mankind, also clear (Signs) for guidance and judgment (Between right and wrong). So every one of you who is present (at his home) during that month should spend it in fasting, but if any one is ill, or on a journey, the prescribed period (Should be made up) by days later. Allah intends every facility for you; He does not want to put to difficulties. (He wants you) to complete the prescribed period, and to glorify Him in that He has guided you; and perchance ye shall be grateful. (Yusuf Ali, 2:185)

Its a free-for-all, and we've got a pool of people talented in different areas of study, and everyone of us, I'm sure, have a certain subject we're particually good in or particually weak; and in attending the sessions, I'm sure all of us can stand to benefit.

Apparently Y2, your statement and perception of what im doing is rather superficial and biased. If copyright issues were really such a large matter in this class blog, all pictures here are copyrighted as none have been seeked consent of, and thus everyone would have violated the law, having to go to.. court? lol. Your statement here is as good as saying this to somewhat an extent:

Hello everyone;
in lieu of the recent fad of uploading embrassing photos, let me, after the numerous (horrible) Infocomm Club trainings, give you a few pointers on taking pictures.

Number1: When taking photos, always have a specific goal. Examine the photo;

What we do see very clearly in this picture, is a subject, the main focus of the picture.

Here, the subject is drenched in sweat, in a rather unflattering photo but yet, photographers may beg to differ. This photograph captures essence and style, the purpose of the photo and event; but obviously, not that of best interest to the subject.

Number2: If taking shots of human spirit and character, always take candid shots.

Posed pictures, especially those that show people doing something usually look really fake. Try to have a distinction, be it lighting or focus to enhance the attention to the main subject.

Candid shots always capture much more, as the subject is comfortable in his surroundings, and even the weird hand signs come naturally.

Well thats basically what you need to know, and perhaps maybe just really good anti-shake technology in your camera. But before we leave, let us practice our new found skills.

What is so terrible about the picture below?

(1) This posed picture looks rather out of place, with only one poser right in the center, and the rest rather ignorant of the camera.
(2) No obvious subject. Mdm Mariam takes up half the photo but yet she is blurred. There are too much subjects in this picture, making it hard to focus.
(3) ...but what you do focus on, is absolutely revolting.

SO take your newfound camera skills and click away!
